Work From Home Parents-The Do’s & Don’ts

Hi there my special reader you! 😉 *wink wink* [haha]

In all seriousness though [hehe], can I share with you a few do’s and don’ts? Yes? Oh, how kind of you! [Lol]. Most of us would love to be able to multi-task life and all of it’s juggles, in a way that meets the needs of all of your priorities (you included) 😉

Some of the key factors in working from home, most would say is to have total freedom in your choice of hours, more time with the family, working at your own pace strategically, and of course being your own boss. Or for some who may be handicap, but still want to earn a living and feel independent. Those are amazing reasons, but how is one to uphold all of that and STILL make time for self? Well ladies and gents, it can be done. But the office rules would still apply if you want to accomplish this successfully. If you’re finding yourself at odds with time management for your children, your spouse, your friends & family, and again most importantly YOURSELF, then it’s time to re evaluate what your core purpose of being at home really is and tackle the solutions. Today’s blog will help to do just that. We wouldn’t want to defeat the purposes of working at home if those same issues from a traditional 9-5 still apply.

                              ***The Don’ts***

  1. Do not exceed your “schedule” at home. Avoid work hours spilling into time with the children or your spouse. This causes stress on both you and your relationships with those you love. Repetition of such strains will result in resentment, turmoil, angst, frustration, and rebellion. They will feel a sense of neglect. Most importantly, it will put a wedge/distance between these special people in your life.
  2. Do not neglect yourself. It’s very common to let yourself go when overly consumed in something you’re doing. Especially if you’re a perfectionist or dead set on proving a point. Make sure to take breaks in between long hours whether working from home online or offline. Stretch, get some fresh air, grab a bite to eat or simply take a brisk walk. Your mind is of no use anyway if pushed to your limit and mentally drained. Keep a social life & still find time to spruce yourself up. You’ll feel ten times better.
  3. Do not multi-task home duties & work.  HALT! Stop whatever you’re doing and pay close attention to this next sentence [lol]. Avoid mixing at home chores with work. You’re not home to clean, cook, or wash clothes. If you’ve managed to incorporate a schedule that works for you juggling all of those tasks, more power to you. But generally, if your focus is on making sure you’re not burning dinner while on a conference call then maybe you shouldn’t be working those hours, or cooking when working. Sometimes our families don’t always understand that being home doesn’t mean free time.
  4. Do not get distracted or discouraged! It’s normal to feel a bit defeated every now and again if you’re not producing the results you wanted for the day, week, month, or year. Recollect your thoughts, write out a new game plan, and incorporate that into your daily routines. Turn the T.V off, avoid playtime online, or phone calls with your buddies on their days off from work. 🙂 Stay focused, and steadfast.

                               ***The Do’s***

  • Make time for the loved ones. Never let work interfere with that alone time you have established for the children most importantly. They WILL feel a sense of neglect and that will ultimately result in behavior change. Have romantic time set aside for your spouse and spice it up every so often.
  • Avoid getting too comfortable at home and go out for some fresh air. Jog, bike ride, skate, go to your nearest park and have lunch outside. Try out a neighborhood gym and keep yourself active. For the ladies, girl time is essential. Those bonds help keep us on our toes. For the fellas, you also need that bonding time with your male buddies or go out and play your favorite sport or an activity you enjoy to keep yourself feeling energized.
  • Always keep your work space organized. Don’t allow it to turn into a junk room or play room for pets, guests, and little ones. Ensure your space enables you to work stress free.
  • Keep your priorities in check and never let anything come before those you love.

I hope these tips were of great use to you awesome parents at home. These tips helped to ensure things at home were on point for me as well. When I loose my way I stop to remember these points. I speak from experience [lol]. I feel as though I’ve left something out but no worries, the power of an “update”. [Haha]. Share some awesome ideas you may have to produce a successful stay at home parent below in the comment section!

Until next time….

E-Books VS. Paper Books

E-Books Vs. Real Books
Which do YOU prefer?

Hello readers!

I was thinking to myself the other day…about a series of things I wanted to be vocal about. I took a look around me briefly, shaking my head at how sometimes what can be perceived as an “Advancement” in society, can also very well be a contributing factor to its downfall. I’m all for making life a bit easier and more convenient in certain aspects, but never would I suggest crippling ideas and inventions to us as a people. With that being said, I’d like to say, I’m not a fan of E-Books…its not something I’m sorry about either [haha], and I’d like to tell you why…

E-Books to me–

Eh, just aren’t something I fancy much, due to its lack of purpose. The same way I can carry around a E-reader (ie: Kindle, Nook, Sony) I can surely carry a hand-held book. You’d generally find most people reading chapter books anyway (which are usually portable all the same). I miss that. Being on the train, or bus or somewhere public, and the book pretty much advertising itself from afar. A great way to converse and strike up discussion. I miss those good ole days. I’m not sure about a many of you, but I’ve always loved the smell of fresh new books…crisp pages and newly printed ink. Or even an outdated book at the library that shows it’s age. I used to wonder, how many people may have picked up this very same book? How much good and use it must have been for so many others. Ah, just reminds me of the first day of school, freshly chiseled pencils that smelled like wood, the aroma of a new book bag smelled like new sneakers [haha] and the sound of binders clamping open and shut when attaching loose leaf paper. Am I the only one in this? I must say though, mechanical pencils surely are one of the many “advances” I mentioned being in favor of. Reduces the need for trees…recycled paper is cool too. Recycled anything is great!

So that I’m not drifting off topic here [LOL]

It just makes me wonder, how much good is it doing on our eyes to ALWAYS be in front of a screen all day? From our computers/laptops, to our cell phones, Ipads, Ipods, and now E-Book readers? I mean seriously…c’mon! [Haha]. Even in regards to those with poor eyesight (generally speaking the elderly etc), one would argue that the large print would make matters easier on them. Well folks, yet another problem solved, they have books out now with larger text. You can even order it that way by preference. I got it in the mail the other day as a promo with this novel story attached, it was pretty cool. I’m not against technology, I’m just not for pointless gadgets. As a marketer, I can easily say from my perspective and miniature experience with marketing even prior to SFI, that it just seems like another marketing plot. Granted there are a ton of different things making the web, but I question, what will you do if there were ever to be a blackout? If your screen got wet? Damaged battery? Oh, oh I know…cracked screen!? Ah…ah? Anyone? I know…SPEND MORE MONEY ON REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENTS. Minus the blackout, not much you can do about that [lol]. Don’t get me wrong, they are cool looking! I’m not trying to be mean here, but realistic. I’m not into conning people or believing the hype. You’ll take notice to that about me when indulging in more of my writings :D. I’m more of a leader, not a follower. But I know that if my book rips, I simply tape it. If water spills on it, I simply dry it. Should the pages crinkle, I iron it [haha just kidding]. My point is, I don’t want the future generations to miss out on the foundation and pillars of what brings us all here today, not just books. Growing up (and still growing Hehe), I was able to appreciate the things before me, beside me, and what’s soon to come…but not if it’s a mechanism to again, contribute to our downfall as humans and how we perceive and interact with one another. Have you taken a look at our youth these days? Let’s be sure to implement structure and useful benefits people, that will keep us strong and growing. Not slow in pace and lazy. I hope I’m not misinterpreted. Feel free to leave your thoughts below.

Can you REALLY make money online?

Can you REALLY make money online? Absolutely! 🙂

Hello again readers! 🙂

I just wanted to touch base on a few things regarding earning an income online. Let me first start by briefly sharing my experiences with it…

Well, I pretty much got curious about the concept of online money making, and considering I had the time when I first started checking it out (while preparing to re enroll for my classes), I said well sure why not? Thing is, at that time being a new parent and needing to acquire enough for bills and school, it was IMPERATIVE I found something either free (Free? Online? *chuckles* yeah I know) or within my budget. So, away I went click click clicking on everything until I found something suitable. I kid you not, almost EVERYTHING had some type of hoopla attached to it. They get you all hyped up just to say, “pay this one time fee of $100 for this packet and you’ll be earning in no time” or some other type of lame catch. I understand it TAKES money to MAKE money when running your own business, but NOT if you’re spending more than you’ll earn. I thought I’d look around and see what people were saying about the sites that stood out the most…which is how I came to form my opinions conclusive to what I’d already taken notice to on my own. Honestly, for me personally…I can’t be spending a boat load of cash on something I don’t even know works. For over the top gimmicky websites, waiting on a few victims to knock on their tail bones. So I said just forget it…

Until…

Literally it was like the very second I said forget this, and accidentally hit the scroll button downward, I seen this company at the way bottom based on what I typed in the search engine. SFI Marketing Group, a branch from the parent Company Carsons Services Inc., and of course, later on down the line came to learn about it’s superstore Tripleclicks. I kept reading, scrolling like pfft it can’t be as easy as 1-2-3 (keep in mind, every other site I’ve gone to asked for my credit card information as soon as I joined, and of course , to the LEFT I went when they did *giggles*), and to my very surprise, they didn’t! I signed up, I tip toed around with my mouse awaiting annoying pop ups about why I shouldn’t leave the page…and yet, nothing. Omg! I think I found it! I thought..wow. Long story short, I joined last year in 2011 and never looked back.

Why?

Why not!? LOL…It was free to join, along with FREE marketing tools, FREE training, FREE professional Websites for marketing SFI’s products on the Internet. SFI also provides all necessary sale support services, such as customer service, payment processing, and product shipment – all at no cost to YOU! I loved that I could test drive the company for free. There ARE of course low costly ways to advertise and free ways (just got to give it some extra TLC *Tender/Love/Care*). Honestly I DO NOT recommend this to ANY one looking for a “get rich quick scheme” or those that are looking for an easy way out to earning a real income online. Those are usually the LESS driven people with ulterior motives and fall flat on their faces then blaming everything and everyone but THEMSELVES. So if that’s YOU, then no no…please, I repeat DO NOT join this awesome legit opportunity, it will disappoint the right people looking for the wrong things in the BEST places lol. All the same, I’m eager to work with you if you’re eager to learn. Are you interested? Well then what are you waiting for? Sign up! ^_^  Contact me for details on how.
