New Years Eve, champagne glass, clocks, partying, resolutions

New years Eve and New years day are right around the corner. How cliche of me to blog about it right? Ah well, you’ll thank me later…[lol]. It’s a Monday night, you’re sitting at home counting down the clock…sipping your egg-nog or whatever it is you’ll be drinking to bring in the New Year (I hope it’s water) Haha…No… seriously. What’s on your list of good things for the following year? And by list, let me make this VERRRRRRY clear! I do mean IMPLEMENTED tasks into your daily, weekly or monthly routines! [lol] I too, am guilty of jotting things down and never getting around to them. So, let’s toast to motivation people! Be a little kinder, knock the bad habits and procrastination. Dream BIG but work even bigger than you dream! Do something thoughtful for yourself and those you love. Heck, try something new (positive & inspiring…nothing crazy lol). Just BE, enjoy, prosper, LIVE!

The Grass Always Seems Greener On The Other Side…

         The grass is always greener on the other side

      Welcome friends!

I was in my room contemplating a few things the other night and thought this would be a great subject to touch base on. As I’m sure you all know, I’m a many of things…but for the sake of this topic, I’ll highlight that I’m a marketer. 🙂 With that, I’m thrilled to be apart of this International circle allowing me to meet so many great people, humble spirits and understanding the ways of others even more than I already have. 

I’m always hearing from friends and co-workers the various things they wished they had, lives they wished they lived etc etc. Some of which are just wanting better than what they feel they had or didn’t have. It may be “I wish my spouse were more xyz, I’d trade them in a heart beat” or “If only I lived in your country, I would have had this and been able to do that” or “See, if I were rich then life would be so much happier”. Excuse me…WHAT!? [haha] I swear this is my exact response to these petty outcries. In my short years of being blessed enough to see another day to strive for something greater, I have learned that appreciation for necessities over “accessories” (in this case, wants) is what will keep you ahead.

It’s not healthy to live a life of regret. Accept your situations as they are, embrace what is before you and learn to let things go. There are some fatherless children that would have been better off without their biological parent in their lives IF they remained in a poor condition causing destruction and misery. “Should’ve, Could’ve, Would’ve…but didn’t”, so what, move on. I think if I DID have certain aspects in my life that I thought I needed before, I would not be able to have the level of experience I have today. Or the type of amazing friends that I’ve gained within that growth. If I lived in a hut with just a piece of bread and fish in a nearby lake, and great health…then I’m the richest of them all. Why? Because I’d be grounded, level headed, self sufficient and alive. When I’m overwhelmed with too many materialistic things I truly feel like a stuffed kid on thanksgiving. That’s never a comfortable feeling, too much is really too much for me. [Lol!] Be thankful this year and count your blessings. I thank God for every good and or bad that has come into my life. It brought me here 🙂 I hope it brings me further God willing.

green grassSo people, word of advice…build yourselves from within FIRST and the rest will follow. Gain control of your own destiny’s, shape your mentalities to address life differently and I promise you’ll produce more fruitful results. If the grass seems greener on the other side, that simply means you’ve got some watering and nurturing to do on your end to balance that out. I hope I’ve shed some light for people today.

Money Management?

There’s a few possible reasons you may have clicked to read this blog. You’re either in debt and trying to manage your funds and got a little curious, or you’re a subscriber (yes, YouTube terminology *sigh* lol). Either way, both reasons got you here for a good reason and I want nothing more than to share my “TipsforZip” with you! ^_^

First things first, you want to get your finances in order. Times may be tough, but it’s ESSENTIAL to everything you intend on doing from here on out. Let’s face it, with stinky credit and a buck to your name, there’s not much else for you to choose from economically IE: cars, homes, food

Be sure to keep track of your spending habits. Try making separate envelopes each labeled with where it’s going. Example: [Rent] {Car} [School] {Daycare} [Living expenses] so on and so fourth. Add money to each envelope every week or two weeks depending on when you get paid, so by the end of the month, each slot will be filled with what you need and what ever is left over can be put towards saving etc. The better your financial savings, the better quality essentials to life, you can have. Some may understand the foods in which they consume on a daily and where it’s really coming from. You’ll be able to research and then after make a more sound judgement on what is safest and healthier for you and your family. Invest in only the things in life that assist you in greatness. Organic is not as expensive as some may think, especially if you have the option to plant or buy baby fruit and veggie plants to grow (if you have the time I might add) ;-).

Now this is one of the more common stresses in gathering funds [lol]. Even if you have just a penny after paying off all of your bills…SAVE IT! Every little bit counts for something. If you have overdraft fees of $60 and a student loan or credit card bill of $300, try and reduce the bill with the highest amount. If ever in a situation like that where each debt is critical and demands are higher for payout, (especially if being charged fees left and right) then address the higher priced one first and try paying it off in chunks. If it’s something more mediocre like an overdue library book verses a utility bill, clearly…take care of your utility bill first. You need water, electricity,  and things of that nature to survive…that will be your top priority. Paying in moderation also helps your credit score when they see you’re consistent and pay you debt in a timely manner.

Ah yes, it can get really tedious if you’ve let things pile up. Whether it be your home, your office, your desk or locker at school…please ensure that your work and or living space is tidy! Stress comes with uncleanliness too. You can’t focus, you can’t work properly and everything becomes a distraction. Worrying about how to get everything done at once and still have time for yourself. Just like money, you have to organize the way you live. It’s also an essential to getting things done productively and efficiently. A few extras dishes in the sink? Clean it up. Papers and pencils or kid toys all over your desk at home? Clean it up. Room all out of place and smelling not too fresh? [Lol] Yes…clean it UP! 😉 I assure you, you’ll not only feel better but you’ll do better and look better because your up keep is inside and out. Take control of your life and live it well. That does not mean run a muck and do things you may regret 10-20 years down the line [haha]. It just means to keep it safe, clean, and stress free. For the parents reading, this is also a wonderful tip and bundle of tools you can teach your kid(s). Get it instilled in them while they’re still young and impressionable, so as adults these things will already be a “must do” in their day to day. Much harder to get through to the stubborn ones as they age [haha]. 🙂

What’s so great about FLAX SEEDS?

Hello again readers! 🙂

I’m sure this is a very COMMON topic among the masses [hehe], but I wanted to shed a little light on it from my point of view. Provided there will be facts to validate the majority of them ;-). For those unaware of what flax seeds (also known as common flax or linseed) are, they’re basically seeds derived from the plant (binomial name: Linum usitatissimum). Tiny brown seeds, some golden brown, and the other is a darker brown. The darker pigmented seeds seem to carry more omega -3, being a little more beneficial in that sense. Reminding me of that quote “the darker the berry, the sweeter the juice”. Lol! Seems to apply in a many of circumstances regarding food etc (wheat bread, berries, flax seeds, black or brown rice, black tea, black beans,fruits) I found this site and a few others to be rather beneficial {http://www.first30days.com/living-healthier/articles/dark-foods-nutrition-champs.html}. According to Wiki, “It is native to the region extending from the eastern Mediterranean to India and was probably first domesticated in the Fertile Crescent.” 

Flax seeds are EXTREMELY beneficial and a good source of essential fatty acids, such as calcium, iron, niacin, phosphorous, vitamin E, and are also a rich source of Omega-3 fatty acids as stated above 😉 . Aside from seeds, it also comes packaged as ground also known as flax seed meal. Usually used in smoothies, food etc. There’s also flax seed oil which is a colorless to yellowish oil obtained from the dried ripe seeds of the flax plant. There are a variety of different ways flax seeds/meal/oil can be used.

WAYS FLAX SEEDS CAN BE USED:

  • Flax seeds can be used as a hair gel. By boiling about 1/4 cup of flax seeds in a pot of 2 cups of water. Constantly stir and check to see if the water has become the right thickness and level of consistency that you want it. You can either extract the gel by pouring it into a knee high that’s been placed into a small container of some sort, and using plastic tongs to glide it out into the container. Don’t squeeze it like you would a tea bag, but more as though you were putting a frosting covered butter knife in between your fingers and sliding the frosting off. Except, it’s tongs and not your fingers. The second way is to use a cheesecloth or a wired strainer the kind with the very fine holes. Extract the gel, allow it to cool down and add any essential oils you’d like. I love using lavender and lemon grass along with drops of vitamin E.
  • They have a sweet, nutty flavor. When boiled and whipped with apple juice, they make a great binder and leavening in baked goods, in place of eggs.
  • Flax seeds alone can have a laxative effect on the body and so should be consumed in moderation. Many vegans enjoy them daily for the Omega-3 benefits.
  • The tiny brown seeds  are sometimes added to cereals. They are prone to rancidity and must be stored in the freezer.
  • Flaxseed oil has been found to be beneficial for those who suffer from Crohn’s Disease and Colitis. Several studies have found that this oil seems to be able to calm the inner lining of the inflamed intestines. There’s also  a high content of mucilage in flax and this is an effective natural laxative.
  • Flaxseed oil is beneficial in helping to reduce high cholesterol (not by itself, it must be added into your diet regimen). Lowers the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure.Flaxseed oil also helps to:
    1. Reduce the risk of cancer.
    2. Aid in the growth of healthy hair and nails.
    3. Promote healthy skin.
    4. Reduce menopause symptoms.
    5. Play a role in burning body fat.

These are just a few of the great ways flax seeds can be used. Some people with Sjogren’s syndrome (a dryness of the eyes), flaxseed oil helps to improve this condition. All in all, you can’t go wrong with flax seeds, it really is helpful in a number of ways. I love using it as my hair gel! If you have curly hair, it really helps to define them. Green Cleaning Tips-Keeping It “Naturally” Friendly!

Hi my faithful readers! 🙂

I’d just like to touch base on this very common topic that I felt I personally should highlight on my blog. Now I’ve been making some minuet but rather effective changes in my lifestyle regarding the way I clean and what I’m using, the way I consume my meals and transportation of course. Baby steps baby steps 😉 [lol]. For a few reasons…

  1. Self/loved ones->As a parent, child to two awesome parents, grandchild, so on & so fourth…I owe it to not just them, but myself to remain healthy & alive for as long as possible. Mainly for my amazing child 🙂
  2. Active->I miss playing sports.
  3. Health->The majority of those I love and care about at home have asthma (toxic chemicals being inhaled are not a good look)

Now that I’ve touched base on the top main reasons, I will continue by sharing a few cool, easy, and low costly ways to go green & still clean in between. 😉 As I’m sure you all know and have heard…

  • Vinegar works wonderfully as an all purpose cleaner, dilute it with a proportioned amount of water in a spray bottle and you’re good to go. It’s a great and natural deodorizer and disinfectant. (Apple cider vinegar diluted with water of course, is also great on co-washing your scalp;roots & hair! Be sure to do a test on a small area first to avoid any changes in color. I caution you that improperly diluted vinegar is acidic and can eat away at tile grout and marble surfaces. Works amazingly in bathrooms, kitchens, and the laundry room.   • Lemon Juice is another great way to get rid of soap scum and water deposits
  • Baking Soda reminds me of comet or ajax that come sin that powdered form? Yeah, awesome substitute!
